Sometimes a reset is needed
Sep 20, 2024Do you ever just need a break? How often do you actually get one? Not often enough, is my guess.
I needed a break. A reset. Which is why you haven't heard from me for the last month. I was taking time to rest and reset my business model (more on that later), after a robust sprint.
Our kids need resets too. Sometimes the reset only needs to be five minutes. Sometimes it needs to be an hour, a day or a weekend. We do that as a family. We take a reset every Friday, have a screen free evening, and take time to connect, play games, do art and make music.
One of the keys here is not making the kid do it alone. Just like playing the game, we take time off the screen together. It's good for all of us.
Every few months, we do a longer reset, and take a bigger picture look at what our family wants to be like. What's working, what's not? What experiments do we to try? What new things do we want to do? Common Sense Media hosted a webinar at the beginning of the summer to help reset your family's tech habits. The suggestions work for any time of year.
