Here's what it's like playing Minecraft with my kid

May 14, 2024

I still don't remember how to do things. Maybe I've learned. Maybe I've forgotten. Maybe I never tried before. Or maybe I just didn't sleep well. lol.

I played Minecraft with my kiddo last week. And FINALLY after loads of time playing, and never remembering how, I learned to swim. Here's the clip.

"Sprint underwater. It's very simple. I've taught you this like 10 times."

And he probably has!

I share this because if you haven't played a video game with your kid before, it may take a while to learn. AND THAT'S OK!  better even!

Because kids love the chance to be the expert. To share what they know and be better than the adults around them at *something.*

In many ways, I'm grateful I have sucked at video games because it's given me a chance to let go of perfectionism, AND it's given my kid a chance to get better at teaching. I can see how it's grown his confidence to show me how to do something and see me get good at it because of what he's shared.

TLDR: It's ok to not remember how to do stuff. Kids love to teach.
